A Quick Birthday Tribute to Mom

Having been sick all weekend, I haven’t had a chance to update my blog, but being that I had what seemed like endless hours to think (in a Nyquil induced euphoria, I may add), I now have several potential blog entries stewing, never fear. Granted, some of those ideas may be a direct result of the cold medicine…

Before I head back to bed with my hot tea and chicken soup, I wanted to say, “Happy Birthday, Mom!” You’re the only one who could have handled me, taught me to stand on my own two feet, and given me roots and wings. Thank you for teaching me about our heritage, showing me what “living the good life” truly means, and living the example of what a wife should be. Thank you for everything. I love you.

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.  ~Washington Irving

Back to bed…
